Khalil al-Hayya is a senior leader of Hamas and a member of its political bureau, born in 1965 in Gaza City. He has been one of the most prominent internal Hamas figures — meaning based in Gaza rather than in the diaspora leadership — and has played a significant role in the movement's political and diplomatic activities since Hamas's electoral victory in 2006.
