Hiam Abbass is the most internationally prominent Palestinian actress, a commanding screen presence whose four-decade career spans Arab, European, and Hollywood productions. Born in Nazareth in 1960 to a Palestinian family and raised in the Galilee village of Deir Hanna, she trained in theatre before moving to Paris in the late 1980s, where she built an extraordinary cross-cultural acting career and acquired French citizenship.
